A Question for all APA members

At least in MA it is $20 per year membership and $8 per week if you shoot for a combined total of $40 per week, per team.

Ditto here in GA/ATL...$20 Annual Membership...the weekly 'pay if you play', ($8), can change based on what the kickback to the room is for table time...and if an 'In-House' Division, the kickback to the Operator...

Can it actually be more?
We don't have any kick backs here as I think they are just happy to have customers on a Monday night :D

I play 20 dollars a year, and 6 dollars when I play. We did have the triple play masters league, and when I played that, it was 10.

How much does it cost to play in the APA. I know there is some kind of membership fee due yearly? and how much is it a week?

Hey CaptainHook,
The yearly membership dues are $20, each team can have as many as 8 players, only 5 play, the 5 that do play pay $8+-.

Nope, I can't. A "good 4" will runout with ball in hand on a wide open table with only his balls left. A "bad 4" won't.

In general, any SL-4 will hold the table all night long on Friday night, as long as another league player doesn't plop his quarters down.

If you played over 10 matches, and you are an SL-6, then there's a good chance you are an SL-6 for your area. If you haven't played 10, then all bets are off. The initial "break in" will see your handicap fluctuate until you have a certain number of matches.

I'm just saying 10 matches, but you'll truly "level out" at 20 matches and above.

Fred do you mean per sessio, or does last session count. This has been a bad session for me I only played 9 times and won 6 of them, but I play most of last session (at Good Times in Somerville).

I've been told since I started last winter by peolple that they think i sandbag and should be a 6, but I was really inconsistant. My Cap is going nuts now because we have a 7, 6, 6, 4, 4, 3, 3, 3, and one of our 4s should be a 5.

So he wants me to find out if it's right, that's why I want to know what i shouild be able to do, and better decide if I should call in and complain.

Pete

OK here it is,

SL 2 = 7.0+ Innings/Match
SL 3 = 5.1-6.9 I/M
SL 4 = 4.1-5.0 I/M
SL 5 = 3.1-4.0 I/M
SL 6 = 2.1-3.0 I/M
Sl 7 = 2.0 & less I/M

I've noticed that APA skill levels vary from location to location, i.e. Heavily populated area Level 6 is much more capable than rural area Level 6. You play the same competition all the time, it fugures you will "top out" at some point.

Most handicaps reflect the play of a region and there is no way to get around this. The reason is competition of play as you stated. How many times have you seen a player run out racks and then to play another player who is much stronger and lose. They couldn't get out of a single rack.

It does not matter how much data is gathered on a player or how perfect that player performs, there is no system of good measurement. On the other hand it is better than having no handicap at all, that is locally. This is why the BCA works well in Vegas - no handicaps used.
