A Question For Jump Meisters

You guys are all wrong, there is absolutely no better Jump Cue than a Foster Jump cue. I have tried Bunjee, J&J, Predator, Falcon, and various others and a Foster out-jumps them all. He has a phenolic tip/ferrule combination (not 1 piece) that he designed himself, long before any of the major manufacturers started using them. go to www.fostercues.com. I think the Price is around $125. He also offer full Length Jump/Break cues that you can easily jump with at full length. His tip ferrule combination is not just a throw together idea, Doug tried many, many different approaches to Jump cue making, and has come up with a result that is simply impossible to surpass. Doug is great with a jump cue, and pulls it out every chance he gets, it may not be the best for his game, but you can be sure he has spent countless hours fiddling with minor properties or construction to come up with the best possible result.

Those stinger cues look nice, But how do you get consistent performance out of cues made with different wood in the forearms? Anyone else notice that the forearms of those cues are not maple? I would not Want a dense wood like ebony to be the main Forearm Component. Is it just a sleeve?

Don't knock the Stinger until you've tried it. It sounds like the Foster is a good cue too. I have the cocobolo model of the Stinger and I have 2 friends that have a bacote and a purple heart. The wood will make the cues different weights but they all jump about the same. It's strange and I can't figure it out because weight has always been the major factor in jumping a ball. All I know is that I can get over balls with the whole cue that I had a little difficulty getting over with a jump cue previously. If I ever meet you I would be interested in trying yours to get a comparison but I find it hard to believe that anything could be better than the Stinger.

I appreciate all the responses...but I made the executive decision for myself based on the information provided and the winner is......Jacoby. It's in the mail and I should be getting it either today or Monday. I'll let you know...

Great choice.

I personally like they way that someone said we were ALL WRONG providing you with information that you requested, then people bring up Jump Breaks, when you specifically said you were not interested in them.

:)

The Jacoby jump cue came in yesterday and for you guys that told me to go with a Jacoby (cjgrandprix, Perk, and VAP)...Hey, you boys did REAL good. This thing REALLY gets the CB up quickly and is also easier to keep on line to your target ball. I've used other cues, including my Sledge, where it kinda squirts the CB off line too much (and no, it isn't always me that caused it either). This jumper is super. BTW, Mike (Templeton) the cue weighs in at 6.9 oz. If I take the little rubber bumper out of the back, it's 6.7 oz., whereas my Sledge is 9.2.
VAP...this still doesn't get you off the hook until you keep working to become a better marksman. I might just have to use you as target practice. :D

see.........you should trust me more often. that cue is the truth man, just point where you want the ball to go........and bam thats it.

the only thing i would change about my jacoby, is to have the butt a little longer, say 2-3 inches, but i'm not sure if they could bore it out enough to keep the weight down.

Bunji makes a great jump cue. Why arent you interested in jump breaks Jerry Powers (Jerico cues) makes a super jump break.

Perk, if you haven't seen the Stinger then you wouldn't understand. In so many ways, this is a unique cue. I mean technically it falls under the jump/break catagory but even as a full cue, it should still be catagorized as a jumper. With rules always in flux and with uncertainty as the common environment, I don't think it's a bad idea to consider it, even if you're only looking for a jump cue.

I have one with my Sledgehammer. I've tried numerous toys, and I think that the best job of jumping and control comes out with a dedicated jumper specifically designed for that purpose.
It's like having a really great sand wedge in golf as opposed to a dual purpose wedge. A dual purpose wedge can be very good, but in no way will it be as effective as what a great sand wedge is designed to do.

Jude,

Thanks for the info on the Stinger. Will keep my eyes out. Understanding the possibilities of it as a full lenth jump cue, makes more sense. At the time of my last post, I just vented a bit. Not so much for this thread, but for others. Too many times someone requests something specifically, and people go in other directions.

Cheers!
