A question for ladies who get manicures

I was wondering if getting tips affects your game. I'm thinking of getting my nails done but I'm worried it'll make jacking up difficult. What have your experiences been?

Thanks. :)

Best answer from a guy I can give ;) . . .

I know girls/women with both options and those that have always had nails play fine with them but those that 'get' them usually struggle and take them off.

Thanks! :) I think I'll hold off until I've got at least a couple weeks to get used to them before a tournament.

I got tips right before a pool tournament and it didn't affect my game. I have continued to get fills for almost a year and a half and have had no issues at all for me. I really like them, too!

Here is a pic of me at my last tourney two weeks ago. You can see they don't get in the way.

Your comment about getting 'em a couple weeks before a tourney is a good idea (just in case they don't feel comfy).

Hi Lea,

I got tips done the day before I went to Vegas. It didnt affect my game at all. I regret getting them though because it was so hard to take them off plus they made my nails really thin now. I am never doing it again.

Did you ever think it may have made you play better since your team won!:D

A plain manicure, with nothing glued on, is nice. When you get stuff glued on you can be making a long- term decision because it harms the nails (thinning, possible horrible fungus between nails and acrylic) and you can't bear the sight and the healing process when you remove them.

Either prenatal vitamins or Calcium + magnesium will make nails grown long and strong.

For pool I like pedicures. That way when my opponent is running out and I'm stewing in my last mistake, I can stare at my pretty toes!!! : )

What blah blah said. I get French manicures and pedicures, but no tips or fake nails put on.

Thanks so much, everyone. :) I've only gotten tips once -- it was during a few-years-long non-playing period, and I really liked the way they looked, but I do remember being like, "WTH do I do now?" when the first one started coming off...I'd conveniently forgotten that part of it, and what my nails looked like once they all came off. Well, I've got some pretty polish on them right now; maybe I'll just stick with that. :)

Anyway, as a thank you, I want to direct you all to a comedian named Anjelah Johnson who has a funny bit about going to the nail salon.

(I hope that link works...I'm on my phone...if it doesn't, go to You Tube and search Anjelah Johnson nail salon...the uncut version has a few extra minutes at the beginning that are funny, too.)

Yeah, Lea, if you take them off and not get fills, your nails will be super thin.

I love mine. I have tried the recommendations that blah blah mentioned but nothing makes me nails strong or grow. ;( So, solar nails are perfect for me.

I can't do the tips. I tried that awhile back and they bothered me when it came to jacking up. Needless to say I ripped them off. Now, my natural nails grow like weeds. I keep my right hand (bridge hand) short and my right hand long...works for me :)

Does she walk sideways as well?
