I was reading a story about how a circus elephant was conditioned to stay in an area tied only to a small wood stake with a rope. The elephant could have easily broken the rope and walked away but it didn't. As a baby elephant it had it's ankle tied to a stake with a chain and as time went on it just accepted that it could not break free. Learned behavior.

In tournament situations, gambling, or with regular practice we play against people that are more skillfull and can easily beat us. As time goes on and your game improves you will undoubtably match up with those players again. Can you keep up now or do you still lose to them even though you feel that you can win? Do you subconsciously lose because that's the way it's always been? Learned behaviorism! How many times have you heard a 'B' or 'C' player say "that guy is too good.. I can't win"? Wanna guess what the results will be?

Allow yourself to grow. To improve. To get better than the people you learned from. Keep a positive attitude and accept that you are going to get better.

You're in control of what you learn. So, keep up the hard work and positive attitude. You will absolutely get better and there is no limit to how much you can improve.
