Hey guys this is a very long over due and very well deserved review (in my opinion) of .....
Comet Billiards
I have to say in my short time on this earth playing pool I have never been to a classier establishment than Comet Billiards.
Everything in the place oozes billiards and it is truly a player's room.
I have had the pleasure now of playing there twice for tournaments, first for the world straight pool championships, and very recently for the North Jersey Straight Pool Pro Am.
At both of these events I had the pleasure of dealing with Mr. Bill Haley who is not only a great guy but a great house man as well. Attentive kind hearted, easy to talk to, knowledgeable, and puts on a mean tip in a hurry. It is very apparent that this man loves pool and loves what he does and it shows in every aspect of his business.
The tables and playing conditions are impeccable. The tables are spaced extremely well so you are not bumping other players every five seconds and the cloth is immaculate. The pre requisite straight pool rack outline is drawn on the center 8 tournament tables as well.
Dont even get me started on Pat Fleming and the Accu Stats arena table. Pat is a great guy who is a gentleman to play against. He creamed me during the Pro Am and I learned a lot from just watching him play. My friend Steve remarked how incredible it would be to able to play a guy like him on a regular basis how it would improve your game.
The arena is sick. I had the honor of playing Mika Immonen on this table during the World's and it is my single greatest moment in my billiards career. However the one thing I can tell any would be players on that table is that it is ridiculously hot. Those lights are scorching bring water and a towel.
All in all folks you can not go wrong with Comet Billiards in Parsippany New Jersey if you are ever in the area. Everyone involved in making that place great really knows what they are doing and you can really tell they love the game.
I hope Comet has a long long run and I get to make it down to New Jersey a lot more often.
