ability to delete you own thread

hi mike
since your stated reason for taking away the ability to delete threads no longer exists, what about giving us back the ability?

I think the abiltiy should be restored....However.... If you delete a thread you started, you should also have your posting ability deleted as well....

Perhaps that will make people think twice about starting a useless thread.....JMO

Sometimes people log on and their left brain is in control and they start a post and say things without thinking. Then the next day they log on and their right brain is in control and they read that post and think how stupid it is and wants to delete it.

Actually it is personality 1,2 3 etc

Some posts are influenced by alcohol, drugs, and are regretted later.

I see nothing wrong with a person being able to delete his/her post. It is not like these posts are so great that they should be saved for posterity.

say i post a picture of my favorite cue.
you have a problem with someone once the thread has slipped to the archive pages wanting to delete it?
and if they did they should no longer be able to post.
little narrowed minded don't you think?

What for?? ...If space was a problem, archived useless threads could be purged....just like non active users...

You went from a blanket statement in the "main" forum to a nit pick example of a post that should be in a different section in the first place......and perhaps yes, that section could have a different set of moderation rules....

Since were nit picking....How bout this...Someone puts up a sale offer for a cue and someone online wants to take him up on the offer...Then the seller removes the whole thread and acts like a business transaction never took place on line because someone locally offered him the same amount after the deal was made online.... Now when the origonal buyer decides to post a negative thread about this guy for not going through with a made deal...no one els has any reference to the thread because the loser was able to delete the thread and then the next day start a new offer of a different kind...

If its good enough to post today...make sure its good enough to be a post for tomorrow...There are people that read older threads....why deprive them the opportunity to see your favorite cue just because they did not get to see the post the day you put it up....

I personally would love to be able to delete a whole bunch of these useless threads...I would start with this one...

Gremlin is gone, but he was not the only one who would delete threads. If this feature were restored, people would definitely be deleting threads they start and then turned ugly. This has happened many times in the past.

The problem is not that the deleter's posts are gone....but everyone that contributed to the thread also has all of their posts deleted, and not by their choice.

The ability to modify your own posts is adequate. You should not have the ability to change or delete someone else's posts, as you would if you deleted the whole thread.
