Absolute Farce

Why ***** about it!!!! I know its eightball and the format is weird but this is the only bright spot are sport has had in some time. I say just give it a shot if it does not work what have we lost? If it works then maybe pool will finally grow into mainstream media

Every player that played got a minimum $6200 payout. The entry fee I hear was waived. Wouldn't you pay $1000 for a guaranteed $6200 return.

Colin, it's good to hear the players are thinking that way. I for one, have grown so tired of the same old 9-ball on ESPN. From most of the people I've ever talked to, the rules changes introduced over the years, supposedly to make the game more exciting for TV, actually have removed credibility from the game.

It's going to be very refreshing to watch 8-ball as played by professionals. The only thing I'd like to see changed is to remove the 8 on the break from winning. You should have to completely work your half of the rack out to win, period. 8 on the break shoud be the option of spotting it or re-racking.

Ever hear the saying "Any publicitiy is good publicity"? Well it definitely applies here. Whether you think the IPT is a crappy format, crappy fees, or payouts, crappy setup, whatever. The fact of the matter is people are talking about it. Pool is in Cold Pizza on ESPN. Pool is on the Best Damn sports show. Pool is on Fox Sports Network. You get the point.

Regardless of whether or not this tournament is good for the people playing in the tournament or the old schoolers watching it on TV, who friggin cares. The purpose of the IPT is to draw new attention to the sport, attract new fans, and grow the popularity. You and I are not the target audience. I dont wish to be the target audience. I want it to the family at home who has a table in their basement and never uses it. It's time they picked up the sticks and started playing again and venturing out to the pool hall and the tournaments.

That's my three cents.
