Absolutely Dumbfounded

The drawings are from, Pleasures of Small Motions, on page 54 of the Revised and Expanded version, written by Bob Fancher. This is part of the instruction on finding rhythm.

It's a very well written book with quite a few accolades. The video I'm not as much of a fan of.
 
I'm not sure why the dumbfounding. Isn't that one way to do it (the way the drawings show)? The caption in the book says "This is a basic rhythm chart. Your rhythm chart may be different, but you need to be able to say exactly what happens on each beat of your stroke."

[But the video of Souquet may be a cue-ball-last-look break shot, not consistent with the drawings. Maybe that was your point.]
