I read these posts and the forum on BD everyday like the newspaper. I very seldom post, however, I felt compelled after reading the posts on the World Summit of Pool.
I taped all 4 hours of "pool" but I was careful to edit out all the commercials. Then, before the commercial breaks, I smartened up and began editing out Mitch Laurence gushing on & on & on & on about "Grand Central Station" ad nausum. I will spare our readers how he shilled shamelessly over & over & over for 4 hours about "the setting, etc." When all is said and done, we pool fans have approx 25 minutes per hour of "pool", albeit sloppy camera angles, seemingly blurred overhead lenses, STILL NO POST MATCH INTERVIEWS EVER, and I really mean NEVER does ESPN allow a pool player to actually be interviewed after a match, and I could go on. ESPN...the "worldwide leader in sports entertainment"?????? ESPN cares more about pee wee spelling bee's and Women's Lumberjack Competitions than pool. I wasted a blank tape from Wal Mart in taping that series.
For those of you who still have not viewed any of Accu-Stats superb products, let me say 1st that I am not related to Pat Fleming, however, over the years I have purchased 178 of their tapes and each one of them is outstanding in so may ways. Perfect camera angles, clear viewing and best of all, WORLD CLASS POOL CHAMPIONS doing the commentary such as DiLiberto, Incardona, Mathews (formerly, but still GREATLY MISSED by the way), Buddy Hall, Nick Varner & on & on. Their stories and banter alone is worth the paltry price of their product. I can't say enough good things about how great Accu-Stats and their staff are. Even when calling 1-800-828-0397 when you speak w/ Pete or Jim or sometimes even Pat, they are so cool! I really wish everybody would view their tapes or DVD's and then write en mass to ESPN to voice our displeasure. VIVA LA ACCU-STATS!!
