Acquiring a pool table

I probably should have posted this in the wanted section but it's a kinda general question.
I live overseas, in Trinidad to be exact. We don't have legit pool table dealers, we have some random table builders but nothing at an acceptable standard. My question is, do you guys/gals know any mechanics or company that I can purchase good diamond or GC table from and they'll package and deliver it to my ocean freight forwarder in Miami.
I was in contact with a sales rep from diamond but he stopped replying when I asked him a question about shock indicator stickers. I was looking to get a 9ft Diamond professional 3 piece slate. I would appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction. Much thanks.

Pretty sure I have spoken with you before??? If not, my bad. The real issue with most people who are trying to import stuff: they are CHEAP and will ask a legit dealer to "fudge" the invoices to avoid import taxes.... Which is HIGHLY illegal and just wrong to ask of someone.

Not to mention they think they can negotiate prices. Tables are so hard to find right now. Crate and freight is expensive. I have 17 GC's right now, I doubt you want to pay what they are worth restored. The wait time on a NEW Diamond or GC is also very long.

Hey Trent, nuh we haven't spoken before. I wouldn't ask someone to "adjust" an invoice. I've flown to Miami, purchased and shipped furniture and appliances when I built my house. I travel to Miami again and shop around for a table, but I know the wait time for a good table is long and the mostly off the "shelf stuff are furniture type tables which I don't want.

Ssonerai, a shock sticker is a type of mechanical label that would change colour when the cargo is impacted and the resultant force is higher than what the sticker/label is rated for. It show mishandling, it's for insurance/liability purposes. A requirement by my Ocean freight forwarder.

Pay retail and wait, its an easy process. I have freighted a table to Antwerp Belgium, I know the process. Did not require any type of "shock sticker" products are INSURED and there is no problem. Diamond is very experienced in shipping tables all over the world, why would yours be so different. ITS YOU: NOT THEM.

I wonder what the Freight bill would, and when the Table arrived who could set up.
Its actually not that expensive to freight a table, the import taxes I have no clue! having a qualified person to install it is likely the most difficult issue at hand. One piece slate table is likely the best option, it requires the least set up.

You're definitely correct. It's hard to find someone capable to do an install. There's only one person in my country who I trust and actually uses a set of stabila's and two starretts; especially when most of the tables available here are locally built. The pic attached is my local 8ft, as you can see the rails aren't a conventional design and the 3 piece slate was rescued from an old old old table that resided in a bar.

I don’t have a dog or a horse in this race.

I’m not a schill for Trent either.

I been in the table biz myself about 10 years ago. I only got out of it because I sold my property in Vegas where I could store the inventory for free and it was at my house so theft was minimal. Point I’m making is I’ve been in the biz.

I’ve bought tourney used Diamonds-smart move if you can get one.

We bought out rooms-Jay Helfert was my partner. The rooms were either going out of biz or upgrading-we didn’t care. If we could buy good, we could sell good and everyone wins. Easy biz. We didn’t restore.

Getting a restored GC is the smartest play there is for a end user at home. I don’t care who does the work as long as they are qualified. That’s a short list IMO

My personal table is a GC4 that I bought nearly new. I had factory fresh GC5’s in my inventory. I like 4’s much better. The 6’s ain’t bad but cost a ton

The best value for a home end user is a restored GC. Trent does great work. Price is fair. He’s making $. Who works for free? However he isn’t robbing anyone either. Glen same thing, excellent work. Mark, again great work. And a few other guys.

Getting a restored GC is a better plan than a new GC6 and the restored tables don’t depreciate as much as a new table.

Sure they are expensive. What’s good that is cheap?

Again I’m not a schill, I don’t have a dog in the race here. I just been around and know a bit about the table biz. And owned a GC in my house since 89. Only had a 7 year gap with no table 92-99 I didn’t have a table.

Best
