I’m out here in Las Vegas at the west gate for the acs nationals. I went maybe 10 years a go and I got to say if you’re thinking about coming it’s not worth the trip. The acs is almost dead. I think standard only had 36 teams. That’s pretty lame for nationals.
Here’s some notes
1) bad enough that your playing on valleys but they all play different. Some have mercury ultra on them. Some have tournament cloth. Pick one lol I don’t care if a bar box plays slow as lomg
As they all play the same.
2) even though the tournament is small and half the table are empty you’ll play one match at noon one day and not play until 5 pm the next. It makes no sense.
3) good thing is a guy runs minis all day long. It s really easy and quick to get in one. They are only $10 a pop but you get to play.
4) vendors are few of course.
5) I’m not a fan of the west gate. The food options are limited. Almost all of them are mid or fancy restaurants. So there is no cheap food court like most have. Plus it’s close to nothing. The Tropicana was a dump but you could cross the street to the mgm or New York New York. For plenty of choices. Here nothing. You would have to take a $20 cab ride a way. The mono rail is here but if you are on a time crunch that doesnt work.
The hotel is clean and nice. The buffet for breakfast was really good and Benihana was really good and we had a lot of fun
6) they aren’t playing on the new valleys but they are out here. It looks like just a more more modern valley. Pockets are 4.5 instead of 4.75 still I don’t know why you would pay more for this then you would a diamond. Get an old valley and tighten the pockets a little. Save yourself 5 grand lol
I guess the apa is taking its toll on other leagues. People who couldn’t win in the acs or bca can there so they are migrating to apa or even tap. If you’re going to just have some fun cool. But if you’re in it for the money even if you win it’s not gonna cover what you spend. That’s not really the reason I play so that doesn’t bother me.
