Raphael has been hanging in Sacramento at the Jointed Cue. I saw him there Friday night. That should be a great match. I like Raphael's overall ability but Billy is one helluva 1h player!!

I talked to Rafael today. It wasn't a race to 13 and it wasn't at California Billiards.

I don't know, where you're getting your info, but it is WRONG.

Unless I get an OK from the players involved, I don't give out particulars for matchups. NO DETECTIVE NO KNOCKS

Talk about wrong

Well I admit I jumped the gun but you tell me why I would need permission to report about a match that hundreds of people know about now. What particulars are you talking about? What the race was to? Who won or lost?
Is that going to be giving away some top secret information? You are so fast to jump on someone you insult them.
I was right about the match and the score at a certain time. Someone asked me on a post where they played and since I had talked to someone who was at California Billiard I wrongly assumed it was their. So sorry. The race was immaterial. The action is what I was really reporting.
And since it is obviously against your principles to report a match let me do it.
FINAL BILLY PALMER 10
RAFAEL MARTINEZ 8

OH AND BY THE WAY IT IS CALIFORNIA BILLIARD(not billiards)
p.s. it was a Family Billiards in San Francisco

Actually, the name of the jont is California Billiard Club.
And by the way, Tom is correct to NOT be too specific about someone's action.
It's just common courtesy.

I

I beg your pardon. But, in my reply to your post I didn't, in anyway, "JUMP" on you or "insult" you.

If you will take the time to read what I posted, it plainly states that:

"I" don't report any matches, unless "I" get an "OK" from the players involved.

Hey nfty9er,

I agree with Tom. You never know who is reading this forum (or watching a match). A lot of players have been escorted out the back door and relieved of their winnings by people who should have never had known about the time, place and amount of cash available. Several people were relieved of their investment principle at the DCC. Too much flash cash. Too many shady characters. Unfortunately, it is also possible some of the observers may be the men in blue or the federals. I agree its a courtesy, not permission.

I certainly understand what Tom, Troy and Cardiac are saying about posting action results. Maybe this is a great opportunity, though, to establish the proper etiquette because I really would like to hear the latest news but not at anyone's expense. So Tom, Troy and Cardiac, what is the proper way to let people know what's going on out there regarding action matches?

Years ago Bobby Hunter and Ernesto matched up at Hard Times Bellflower. The placed the stash of cash on top of the flourescent light bulbs.
Someone walked in with a pistol and took the money.
Apprently, the robbers were told Morro had a huge money match that day.
Morros luck, he wasn't robbed. Bobby and Ernesto were.
It could be worse too. IRS might go after Rafael. lol

Rick.... "proper etiquette" I don't think I have ever heard these two words used in the pool room LOL :D

Some "reporters" don't see anything wrong with telling what they saw in a public place.

Some "reporters" say "if they don't want it known, why did they let everyone know the details in the first place?"

Have you ever read a sign in a club house:

"What you see here, What you say here, What you do here.... Stays HERE"

IN a pool room, I consider it a club house for pool players.
IMO, AZBilliards is a public forum, not a club house.

Once again, this is just my opinion.

But, if you want to post a result of a match, with details, don't expect me to share any info with what I know is going to happen (Who, Where, When, what game, spot if any and how much), because I know someone will end up posting it in this or another forum.

Yeah. I agree about the etiquette. But, IMHO it's okay to talk about matches that took place some time ago... like remembering the "good ol' days" or so.
Though, it's nice to get reports about some action involving a lot of jellybeans, but it's not fair for the players involved. They might not be willing to share that information for whatever reason.

This is what happens when the computer age meets the back room action .So i feel, the best thing to do is keep it on the hush. And hear about from word of mouth.. If it's true it's true, if it's not o well.. :D

This is my opinion on this subject. If it is 2 well known players that have matched up and the match is over, maybe report who won and possibly the final score. $$$$ should not be posted unless both players say it's ok.. If it is a known player such as Rafael who gets beat by an unknown, you should get the unknown's permission or not post his name. If the known player wants to post the info about this unknown player that's his decision. That should be a starting place for this subject. Sam

Proper etiquette

Okay Tom. I understand what you're saying but you and I both know that there aint no bigger gossip center than a poolroom. That being said, it's tough to have a pool forum and suggest that we don't share stories. I totally understand why and agree with you 100%. Is it possible to do what Sam suggested, to post just who won without saying anything about money? And, if a no-name beats an established player don't divulge the name? I'm just trying to facilitate finding a way to share information that we all want to get without causing problems for anyone.

Reports from one or both of the players would be the ones that I would be interested in reading.

Rickw,

I don't remember any recent posting on this forum reporting matches. For the most part, the 'news' is not trustworthy. Even the orginal post in this thread had some errors.

Now if Keith McCready wanted to share some of his experiences, I'd love to hear them.

Second hand info is always suspect. Why even bother?

action post.

There was an action post about a friend of mine 2 weeks ago. He had no idea one of the guys there had made the post.{and invited more action to town} He didn't want any of it posted as he isn't currently looking to play anyone. I agree that maybe Keith or some of the older road guys could share some stuff with us. Sam

I understand that after the robber left, they got up more money and kept on gambling. This time the money wasn't put on the light fixture.
