Action in s.c. Im here 214.937.1972

oops...i didnt know that wasnt allowed(knocking) and it wasnt about the $$$ just that im an apa player skill level 4 and someone with that much talent should be playn on tour and not be out hustling apa players!!!! trust me.. alot of research was done before i made these statements!!!!!

o.k. 1st, if you're ana apa 4 what the hell are you doing gambling? as a "4" you really can't run a rack, you shouldn't be able to play good safes. most 4's can barely kick and i'm willing to bet you can't jump a ball at all and if you can, not with any consistency. unless you're a sandbagger and a half apa's 4's have no business gambling unless you have people around you who know what they are doing matching you up and getting a spot you "might" be able to win with.
2nd, how is it this guys fault he hustled you? if you didn't know knocking someone's action was bad ettiquite you sure as hell should have heard of what a hustler is and what they do. again, if you didn't know what a hustler was you had no business putting money up.
3rd, and lastly, if you didn't accept in your mind that $200 bucks was an amount you could live without you never, ever, should have put it up.
on top of all these things you put money up with a guy you appearantly didn't know. what were you thinkin'?

Not an APA 4 (but still within the APA skill level) but I do gamble small money with local pros. I look at it as like taking lessons the informal way. This past month I played Marty Herman even race for cheap, and lost 2 out of 3 sets, but learned a great deal. Not his attitude, but some of his plays.

P/S: The set I won was when he spotted me last 2 balls and 2 racks raced to 9.

You know, honestly if your a 4 in APA, you probably shouldn't be gambling anyway. If I found a 4 who would play for more than a nickel I would thrash him. OR, understand that most of us who are NOT 4's paid good money to great players to better ourselves.

Sounds like sour grapes and a bad loser to me. I bet nobody twisted your arm to play, and you would have danced all the way home had you won.

wasnt that he won just that he said he was an apa player skill level 4 same as i and im not crying just giving a heads up to other apa players!!! i can see that all replies that ive received are apparently from hustlers with the same logic sayn its common practice in the pool world!

I agree with you, but you knew when you played you were playing more for lessons, and not necessarily tryung to win money. Obviously you wanted to win, but wasn't screaming you got hustled when you lost. You were smart enough to play for what you consider small amounts that you could afford. whether that amount is a dollar a set or 50,000 a set you knew what you could afford to lose with out whining about it.

Because the truth is, it is not only a common practice in the pool world, it is what pool players do. That's a difference between playing poker and being a poker player; and there's the same difference between playing pool and being a pool player.

If you don't accept that, stay within your comfortable zone. Else, live and learn.

i was playn 1 pocket we were playn apa 8ball!!!! 200 isnt alot to me but princible, credibility and honesty is though!!!!!

I don't necessarily agree with the idea that a 4 shouldn't be gambling. I am not a great player but I understand the game and certainly know how to match up. I have hustled and have been hustled. Life is about making moves weather its on the table or with anything else.

I do agree that the $200 lost is a pretty cheap lesson and he should be glad the guy didnt let him win the 200 then rob him for 1k or more by the end of the night.

I am not all about bashing people but if you get out smarted then the only person you have to blame is yourself.

So lets see.. You joined AZ yesterday and your doing us a public service by letting us know that this guy can play a little.. If I was in your shoes I would have turned the newly aquired knowledge you had on this player into a money making opportunity. Chances are if you hung around long enough there would be more suckers that would come along. You could have made much more than 200 off of that same player. I have seen this sort of thing done numerous times.

To expect a stranger to be honest when money is involved is naive at best. I'm not defending his actions but dishonesty is a fact in all walks of life not just pool. You have to rely on yourself and not take someones word for it. At the very least start out playing cheap until you get a better gauge of your opponents speed. It sounds to me as if your inexperienced so my advice is too ease into the gambling.

I think this what everyone is trying to say and just not wording it correctly

so let me get this straight...anyone who gets hustled deserves a good old lesson!! so Bernie Madoff shouldnt have went to prison that scammed all those investors?

there is a difference, a pool player can't be hustled unless he plans to hustle. The better player won, you can be hustled if you don't accept the game!

Again, I don't condone any person who is dishonest. That being said the person looking for the quick buck (in this case you) has to take some responsibility as well.

sounds like to me you all must know him and are friends!! in my generation we had a wood shed for people like that but today liberal lawyers would have a hayday with that, see the problem you guys go around scamming people and knowing all along a surveillance camera will save you from the ole wood shed beating
