Just wanted to give a shout out to the Action Pool Tour. We have all seen regional tours come and go, rise to prominence and fall due to lack of interest and, more often than not, poor management. But the APT I think is the best tour in the middle atlantic area. There is great promotions, FREE HD streaming, and some of the best talent fields you can find outside of a professional event. Speaking from experience, the events are a lot of fun, with the break and run raffle and friendly people running it. The website is always updated, and it is fun to be a part of.
Everyone wants tons of added money, and I think that is sometimes at the detriment of the tour. I think what Ozzy has done is a great way to go about it, build a great product from the start and let the tour speak for itself. If any of you have been to an event you really know how it hails in comparison to other tours. Catering a tour with nothing but added money and terrible management is doing nothing but letting pros feast on each tournament until it completely implodes on itself. As a recreational player that enjoys competition, we play for the chance to get better and the experience. There is ZERO experience in traveling to a tour event that no one knows who you are and is run no better than some Saturday night APA tournament. So good job APT, I look forward to a long future of success.
There needs to be a medium between catering to both amateurs and professionals. I know there are other tours that do a great job as well, Shannon Daulton does a fantastic job with the GSBT from what it seems. I have never played in one, but plan to this coming year.
I guess I was just bored, but I think people should really attempt to fund the best product and support that because THAT is what pool needs.
