Alright all you cue experts and makers and repairies.

My best friend came to me with this cue asking me if there is anything I could do to fix it. The wrap is about only thing still good on it

Type of cue: Adam

Problem: Finish is worn to crap...Tip is basically not there.....worst of all.....Joint Pin broke off!!!!looks brass

What I wanna know is that is it this cue worth sending to a cuemaker to refinish and repair and make a new shaft for this cue or is this a low end cue like a players.

All I know is that my friends brother got this cue long time ago ( I mean long time ago). His brother sadly passed about 7 years ago and my friend got his cue thru thick and then with his family. So the cue is very sentimental to him.

All help greatly welcomed.....

Is there any way any of you good cuemakers could estimate the cost for a job like this and is it worth it. My friend has a very strick budget as he is starting a new job but this would be great for him.

Thanks

I would not spend five cents on that cue, not worth it. Just what you want to spend on it will buy you a better cue and if you put a few bucks to that, get you a pretty nice production cue.

well, sentimental value can be priceless!

I know that this must temper all judgment. It is a decent base model cue not worth the extensive repairs, but when we throw in the history behind it, it may now be the same value of cue used by Paul Newman in the original hustler movie!! Why not put it away in a cool dry place, standing vertically until your friend earns some money at this new job and can afford the several hundred dollars it will cost to repair it? Going cheap might not be wise. It costs way more to fix a poorly done repair than to do it right once.

My good deed offer of the year...
If your friend is serious & wants that cue...box it up with a $100 bill and send it to me...I'll make it look as new as possible.

Take that offer...seriously...very generous and very well worth it!

You see I have no knowledge of a Adam...I slightly heard of Adams but thats it. I didnt know if it was a hi end cue or what.

Varney I beleive that more than generous. You done alot of great things for peeps this year. I will most certainly pass the message along to my friend ASAP. Is there a deadline as to when the cue has to reach you? better yet I wont tell him anything. His birthday is at hte end of next month. IS there anyway you think you have it done by June 27th? If you want i can pm you with more details....

Thanks a ton for the offer and I will most certainly take you up on it..

buy a new one just like it for less than $100,,,,you get a new finist and a shaft,,,problem solved,,,,,jflan

Adam is made by Helmstetter...where do you suggest he can replace it with a new duplicate for "less than $100"? The cue is sentimental to his friend.
