Adam Cues

This is a common misconception. Miki Cues and Adam Japan ended their contract around 1995, but Adam Japan continued making cues as they had all along. Miki was not the only or the final cue builder for Adam Japan. They were a sub-contractor for Adam Japan. Adam USA (aka Adam NY) eventually became Competition Sports under Dave Forman, and then eventually under Don Spetkar

Two flavors of Adam cues are still made today:

- The first is from Adam Japan, which are built by the Adam Japan Cues company in Japan (edit... it's unclear if Adam Japan today still makes an Adam line. They were made there up til a few years ago, IIRC. The Adam Classic line is built in Taichen, China).

-The second is the Adam USA cues, which are contract built in Taiwan for the Balabushka Cue Company, owned by Peggy Mallen. Mrs. Mallen owns the rights to Adam USA, Helmstetter Cues and the Balabushka Signature Series. She and her late husband were the first to bring those cue lines to Taiwan in 2011. Spetkar may have attempted doing business in Taiwan, but now I have to check my notes :) Patty Vorliss (admin of Forman who owned and subsequently sold the trademark to the Mallens) last had Adam USA cues built in Japan just prior to selling the trademarks to the Mallens.

This might be completely contradictory to the common misinformation out there, and it might be a eye opener. If you all have any questions, please let me know on DM. I know many people will think this is all the wrong information, but it's not. I've been trying to piece a lot of this together these past years since there are obvious contradictions.
Only ADAM-Japan cues made in Japan are the Musashi and every now and then maybe a Mugen. Most of their stuff is made at the Taican/Universal/Hamson plant in China. This came from the rep that handles this part of the world. Got their contact info. from SBE/Hopkins.

Thanks for the clarification. I knew it was Taican , but my contact (former worker at Adam Japan) said Taichen. I’ll chalk it up to phoenetic transcription. He calls the Taican factory “Universal Cues.” I don’t know if that means it’s officially called that. I always read that it was the Taican Cue Company (and that they build Lucasi, Universal, etc.)
