Advanced play run outs

Assuming fundamentals are good, what methods do instructors use for improving (8ball) run outs? Playing on 7ft diamonds I frequently do 3-4 BnR's in a row then about 10-15 games of 2-3innings then I repeat. I'm confused on why I can do 4 but not 6-8?????? This is real game play not the ghost or practice (if that matters)

Should I re-address fundamentals or just fight my way through it? I practice a lot of rotation type runs with and without blockers, and mark the table so I can repeat the same layout over and over.

A part of me thinks it's the layouts I'm given, I run the runs I'm supposed to,but the ones. That are less desirable maybe i need more work on????

So what do you suggest to get to the next level?

You did write "assume fundamentals are good" so . . .

1. A good run will get easier (often) and not harder, closer to the end. A lot of players who struggle fail to leave one or two good key balls from the eight. If you have trouble with the run consistently, you are likely finishing by attempts at final solids or stripes across the table from each other and/or the eight ball.

2. Some of the rest is pattern identification. Send me a PM for more.

Thanks.

Study better players. Don't just watch them --- study them. There's a difference between just watching and studying. If you're not learning something from every match you watch, you're not studying.

That's half of it.

The other half is experience. You have to play a lot.

I didn't say that...you did. The answer is that a good instructor can help you in making better decisions. You still have to have an accurate and repeatable stroke for the best results. Like Fran said, you can study much better players...or you can bite the bullet and take the shortcut.

You really think it's fundamentals?
