eBay advice - Are these "Palmer Prototype" cues the real deal?

I found these two "supposed" Palmer prototypes on eBay...........

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=21212&item=7172145381&rd=1

I particularly like this one.....

Though I normally run for the hills when I hear the word "Prototype", (usually means cheap asian import), these look like they may actually be worth 100 bucks.

I'm tempted to bid, but no one else is, which gets my red flag a waving. The seller first listed them as "Genuine Palmer prototypes", then re-listed them as "Potential Palmer prototypes".

Should I trust my gut instinct?. and/or are there any Palmer aficionados on this forum who may shed a bit of light on this subject?. Thanx.

Palmer Industires in Taiwan purchased the name when Palmer closed down - this was in the 1990's. They crank out a lot of cues, decent quality for the money. These do look like Taiwan cues.

They are just a mass produced Chinese import and are lacking the Palmer decal, which is like a blue half-moon now. I don't know that they would be worth any more with the decal but I am pretty sure Palmer would put a decal on the cue if they had it made. These look like the same cues sold by Quest among others.

If you are going to buy, check to make sure the inlays are real on the 2nd cue, not just decals (transfers).

If you want a good $100 cue, I would look for an old plain Huebler or McDermott or something like that. At least you can resell it down the road. These imports aren't worth anything used.

Thanks Chris.....

I figured these were asian imports of some kind, but I'm just looking for a half decent cheapie until I can save up for a custom cue. Mcdermott's appeal to me, but if I'm going to drop 200-300 on a cue, I might as well wait until I have enough to put it towards a custom job. BK

I don't know of any cuemakers in my area. I'm in Southern Ontario, Canada (Greater Toronto Area). I would love to have a cue built for me, but don't wan't to import it from the US.
