advice from shoemakers on a custom cue

This "shoemaker" just had a Led Zepplin song pop into his head, while trying to read your post. It goes a lil something like this "communication breakdown, communication breakdown, communication breakdown", or something like that:thumbup: Anyways, might i suggest that next time you get a rendering (drawing) of the shoe, before any work is done on it.
If you like it on paper, more than likely, you'll love the finished shoe.;)

On this one, my advice is to take delivery of the shoe, and if you don't like it, sell it to someone who does, and have another one built off of a drawing. You don't have to be an artist to draw a crude picture of what you want, and where. That way the shoemaker will know how to build the perfect shoe for you:cool:

If you designed the cue and he was supposed to build it to your specs, but didnt, then I can see how you wouldn't want it. I think hindsight is always 20/20, but unless it was a simple design, I would have the maker either confirm in writing what you two agreed on or if he has the capability, he could send you a drawing of what the cue is to look like. At least that way, you can say yes or no before he has spent a lot of time on it. If you like the cue, maybe you can negotiate a discount since it isnt what you ordered. The best thing to do is talk to the maker and have a discussion about it.

I hope you werent communicating to him through email. not making fun, just saying your post was kind of hard to read. Maybe he got confused

You posted while I was typing! I just notice the "shoemaker" part. LOL I was thinking he was saying he was the shoemaker. DOH

cue

I don't know how everyone uses tapa talk. It never listens to what I dictate.

There was a communication breakdown. I assumed when I told him what I wanted, he would have delivered it. I know he is extermely busy and I made the mistake of letting the artist be the artist. I am going to turn around and sell the cue and go with the same design from another cue maker. I really wanted a cue from this maker and I am afraid if I go through this process of he said vs he said, the cue maker will not be pleased. I am chalking this up to inexperience.

NExt time, I will be one of those pain in the ass customers that the cuemakers are always complaining about and asking for pics everytime the cue is turned down.

Much better post!
I think most CM's would rather get it right up front and have a satisfied customer than you getting a cue you arent happy with. I dont think you asking for a drawing of what you are getting is being a pain. What I would imagine the CM doesnt like is someone who calls every three days asking when their cue is gonna be done.
