I have uploaded a video on youtube of me breaking few racks. video is edited so it includes just breaking, no racking. :) at 6.20 there's couple slow motion videos at 0.125 speed. Advice would we highly appreciated. I am averaging 19.5 mph speed. I just cant do any faster than 20 mph. Breaking with ~18 oz cue. Please spear few minutes of your time and give your opinion/suggestions. Thank you

try not to line up so square, you want to turn your hips into the shot and right now your hips are only moving straight forward.... turning your hips into it will give you more power for sure. think more of twisting your hips.

In my opinion you should tone down your break 15-20% to gain a bit more control. You scratched a few times, which tells me you're breaking damn near as hard as you can while hitting the head ball square, but at that you're definitely sacrificing a fair amount of control on whitey. Concentrate on just pocketing that ball in corner pocket while keeping him in the middle of the table.

there's nothing wrong with a slow break either, but then again it's really not very fun to watch or even DO...

check out Charlie Bryant's video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3U-qUPU134

As you'll hear Charlie describe it, you've got your right foot at a 90-degree angle to your body. That makes it very difficult to snap-turn your hips and torso into the shot. Charlie recommends the right foot at a 45-degree angle. I use probably less than that, around 30-degrees.

You make a ball on every break shot (sometimes even whitey). What is it you would like some help on?

I agree with Randy, what are you having issues with?

Speed isn't all as important as control. If you can break a little slower, keep whitey central on the table and drop a a ball, you can potentially run out. Try to go a bit slower with lower English, this will break the balls up and essentially stop the cue ball in a more central location.

You drop a ball and cue ball is mid table, you shouldn't have much of an issue running out, which is the point. Since your ball off the rack percentage is high, are you trying to drop the 9 every time?

speed

i want to develop more speed. on this particular table with magic rack it is very easy to make a wing ball but i want to break them as good on any table even when rack is not that tight. if you understand what i mean. my goal is 25mph without flying of the table.

honestly i would go to only using your arm not jumping up on the break and do this until you have just as much power in your break as you currently do and focus on more of a center ball squat the rock break.

seems like your breaking more than hard enough you just need some control practice.

I never understood why people are so into increasing their breaking speed (OP quote " I am averaging 19.5 mph speed. I just cant do any faster than 20 mph. Breaking with ~18 oz cue").
Why not work on other aspects of break like controlling cue ball, making a ball or even playing shape for your shot after the break ??

If you want more speed then yea... Bring the hips into the stroke.. I also use my wrist as a snapping pendulum motion...

But I agree with the others on control.. I don't remember a guys "slow" break when he puts a 3 pack on me....
