Hello!

I need some advice from players here...

I want to order a custom cue from Mr. Paul Mottey.

I looking at Radial Pin for the joint.

Any advice to use Radial Pin for Paul Mottey or stick to his original 5/15x14?

Thanks alot!

You could talk to Paul about his thoughts on it.
Probably just a typo, but I think you mean 5/16x14.

ok thanks! I personally prefer radial pin... wood to wood .... more feel :P

Gonna pay USD$2000 (50%) for this cue this coming end of june....

No problem changing it...

Paul will use the radial pin if you like, he can change it with no problem.

I personally prefer a radial pin myself, and if possible...a titanium radial pin to keep the weight down.

re: mottey joint

have had one with Radial pin joint that played real nice. it seemed to "lighten" the hit somewhat compared to a 5/16-14 or 3/8-10 ...very crisp feeling though. paul and jim can also do a 3/8-11 brass threaded pin that has a lot of surface area contact (ala south west), but don't think they have done too many cues with that joint. the brass would be a little heavier feeling at the joint though. those guys do such great work with anything !! some of the very best cuemakers out there and fine gentlemen, too.

Hello!

I ordered my Paul Mottey with "southwest" pin but in aluminum as I wanted my cue 18.5oz

8 points alternate amboyna burl with white veneer, full amboyna burl butt with 8 (x2) ivory spears.

Ring works on A,B,C,D,E...

with all those usual stuffs... black lizard wrap.

A long waiting period :P

thanks for the advice...

you can get an 18.5 with a "normal" pin. it all depends on where you want your balance point. but ultimately, it's a combination or materials that will get you what you want.

but again,,,you don't need an aluminum pin to get 18.5 unless the wood in the nose is exceptionally dense. i have an 18 with a ss collar with an 18" inch balance point. in order to achieve a balance point that far back, the cuemaker had to "hollow out" the ss collar and gave me an aluminum pin.

i also have an old southwest that is 18.
