Hi. I have a cue that has a radial pin. I heard from another player that I need to place wax on it to take care of it? Any advice if this is true or not? If it is true, what type of wax and how often do I need to apply it? Thanx in advance.

I have been playing with the same cue for about four years now. Never had to do any thing to the radial pin.

A little cue wax on the pin will stop all squeaking and such, and makes it feel smoother when unscrewing the cue, but is not needed to protect the pin. Once or twice a year is plenty.

If your cuemaker used an undersized tap on the shafts (ie you have a hard time screwing the shaft onto the pin), then a little soap on the pin will make the job easier and perhaps protect the wood threads in the shaft from some stress.

In any case, the purpose of the wax/soap is not to protect the pin.
