Hi Im Not A Great Player But Learning And Getting Better But Don't Have The Experience When It Comes To Gambling. Well I Match Up Cheap As Often As Possible And Tonight I Was In A Game Playing Even And I Was Down 10 Games After 2 Hours And The Day Rate Was Done In 10 Minutes. So I Double The Bet After I Got In Stroke And 9 Ball Slopped In First Game. It Was Obvious Luck Wasn't My Friend Today.

Im Posting This To Hear What Everyone Thinks Would Be The Best Thing To Do When Trying To Get Your Money Back In A Hurry .

Btw Im Matching Up With The Same Guy Later This Week.

Thanks Much Guys Goodnight

I hate quitting loser. Always try to raise the bet or keep playing. But years of experience have taught me that many times its better to pack up and go home when things just arent' going your way. Especially if its your local room and you will be playing the same guys for years and years...

Of course this is easeir said than done, cause in your heart you want to keep playing..

Some may not agree, but you can think of all losses as investments. Even if it is someone that you feel you should beat. It usually insures future action, if not from the same person then from other people that may have heard of the "loss". There is nothing wrong with quitting down if your having a bad day, especially if you already know you can match up again on a later day.

Well,

Noone likes losing, but if you jack up the bet, you are still loser on games. It appears you are playing for the money rather than the game. Play the game and the money comes on its own.

You have to learn how to win EVERY game. Do you get 2-3 innings per game of 9-ball? play a lot of safes on the 6, 7, 8. Do you play runout pool? NEVER take a shot you can miss. Either make up your mind you WILL make it, or dont shoot it.

The most important thing to do is to never lose control of the table. Only shoot hard shots that are safe misses - leaving them long, or hooked. I refuse to suggest gambling techniques, but I offer winning strategy. But don't think I wont play some.....

I Would Of Kept Playing All Night But Had Places To Be We Will Match Up Wednesday Night Again Same Game Same Weight

IMO, these investments always secure the game for the future.

As long as your heart is in it, you're practicing hard, and know you can put some heat on the game, you can find a greater return for your money.

Unless you're an ATM to this guy, well, you might not be in over your head. If the game is good, you're matched up well with the weight, you better want it more all the same. Ten games behind suggests a long set, and that's tough for anybody.

GL!!

Thanks

Thanks For The Advice

LOL, I just noticed that every word you typed in you reply is capitalized....

Anyway, if it's really about the money, and you're breaking even, why not take a break from this guy for a couple weeks and try raising the stakes?

good idea

Im Not sure Thats A Good Idea But Not A Lot Of Players My Level In The Local Room

when i have someone stuck and they want to raise the bet(chasing) I wont bet more, I let them out the same way they got it. I dont book double up bets and throw away what ever I earned over a session, unless I'm playing a stone cold sucker and I havent done that in years,, all I play now are AAA players and champions. i'm not winning but thats cool, i sure am playing alot better, God help anyone who plays my speed next time I play them, i'm ready

Hey FB, the next time you play someone your speed?....you moved your speed up, so they would also be playing the same as you right? :) I'm just giving you a hard time man!

You mean the next time you play the guys you used to play even right?

To the OP, are you sure this guy you lost to isn't playin you? To be even with him a few times, then down 10 games in 2 hours is on average losing 1 game every 12 minutes which is kinda fast in my book. He just might be looking for you to jack the bet because you feel you should at least break even with him.

good luck,

If I have someone stuck they can jack the bet all they want, but I won't necessarily change the came. I'll give them a shot at their money back...but if I'm up...I figure to only win MORE money by letting them do this.

When we double up I only want to bare down harder and win MORE. I have had this backfire against me though....but not always.

getting even

Gambling goes on everyday, play when the game is good, quit when it isn't. See how you come out at the end of the year. Press when you're winner not when you're loser, most people do this backwards. When I was young if I had $500.00 and someone won $300.00 and quit, the next guy that walked in the door got to win the last $200.00. The next day I would wake up wondering where I could borrow $50.00 to hustle on.

I'm with you. I "normally" don't let my opponent increase the bet trying to get even -- IF we are evenly matched or if they are a better player.

I don't need a stone-cold sucker to let them raise the bet, as long as I know that I'm the better player, then I'll let them raise the bet as long as them winning just a couple games won't bring them back to even. If fact just last week I was playing starting at $5 per game....and let my opponent raise the bet to $10 a game and then to $20 a game when he was down. I came out pretty good on that one.

My theory about quiting loser I guess is different than others that have posted already. I try to limit my losses and maximize my gains. So if I'm playing an evenly matched opponent that comes out of the gate winning...I am likely to pull up before I loose to much. I'll just wait for a different day to play again. I don't want to wait around for someone's hot streak on that particular day to fade...because sometimes it never does...

Just last night I started playing against an evenly matched opponent for $5 per game. First game I run down to the 8 and miss an average shot and he's out. Second game I run to the 8 without a decent leave, miss and he's out. After losing 4 games in a row without my opponent missing a single shot...I figured it just wasn't my night...and packed it in...figuring if I couldn't get out in the first 2 games when I should have...better not test my luck.... There's no shame in keeping money in your pocket...

EDIT: There are some that believe that you are a NIT if you don't give someone a crack at everything that you have on you at the time...I say...unless you are a champ, a pro, or even a full-time player that knows exactly how you are matched-up...you better manage your money wisely...
