hey all. im a newcomer here at azbilliards. im a mediocre billiards player. have played in some local pub tournaments and have won a match here and there. i play two or three times a week or so and am really looking to get better. i'm hoping that some of you seasoned players can give me any pointers on training methods or drills that have worked for you in the past. also, ive been playing for the last couple of years with 40-50 dollar cues. i'm looking around and want to spend about 2-300 or so on a better cue, but i dont know what i'm looking for. any suggestions?? thank you all in advance for any help you can give me!!

Alright dude...sounds like the bug bit you too. My advice is quit now before it becomes your life.

If you refuse to take my advice here's some more.
1. PLAY MORE- Practice makes perfect

2. 9' 9-ball- Contrary to popular belief, 9-ball is the easiest of all the games. Play on the 9' tables to help your aiming and stroke.

3. Quit bar boxes- Yeah stop playing on these for a little bit. Once you're running out on the 9' table, you're ready to start tackling the bar box 8-ball.

4. Tournaments and money games- Yup, this will elevate your game faster than you can imagine.

5. PLAY MORE- Just in case we weren't clear the first time.

as far as the cue is concerned...check out the for sale/wanted forum (2 spots below this one), and look at the post about the JOSS (east). Like new (only played since Jan.), and a limited run of 50. Sure, I might be the one selling it, but I have your interests in mind too. :)
