African Blackwood Question

Is African Blackwood solid black when it's finished? Does it have any streaking? Thinking of trying it out instead of ebony and was wondering how it looked when it was clear-coated. Thanks

According to the above link, the wood is dark purple-brown with predominent black streaks. A piece of solid black large enough to make a cue forearm is probably possible.

It seems that that is what it looks like before a clear-coat is applied. Am wondering if it changes afterwards.

Ever seen a clarinet or bagpipes? They are quite black. It all depends on the specific piece, and how much light you use and how close you look. If you want one with some streaking, you can have that, if you want one practically jet black, that can be had also.
