i just finished 4 sessions and was suprised at my lifetime stats .

first a little background on me. i was a bar banger all my life. i always played bar room 8 ball, you know call your shot. i was introduced to 9 ball years ago by a co worker when we hung out one night. i was turned off because slop shots counted and never played it again.

it was with some trepidation that i joined my girlfriends apa league last summer because it was a d j league and i didnt like 9 ball.

well it was quite a suprise when i registered on the apa website today and was able to look up my lifetime stats. my winning % in 9 ball is higher than in 8 ball.i have fluctuated between a s/l 4 and 5 ever since the beginning of the 2nd session in both games.

my stat in 8 ball is 57 matches with 29 wins for a 51% win record

my stat in 9 ball is 37 matches with 20 wins for a 54% win record

i would like to note my 9 ball record includes whan i got in a funk when i was raised to a 5 2weeks into the 2nd session and lost every game the rest of the session. that was 10 losses in a row before i was lowered to a 4 at the start of the 3rd session. i posted a thread on here a few months ago and got some good advice that improved my attitude which got my game back on track.THANKS GUYS !

i also would like to note that i very seldom play an opponent at my level or lower. my captain always matches me up against the other teams highest s/l since i am the highest on my team. i beat a 6 in 9 ball and lost to a 7 in 8 ball this week.

i did a lot of thinking about it and heres what i believe.
i think my winning % is due to the scoring system in apa 9 ball. i dont have too much problem getting to 31 before a 7 gets to 56 or whatever he needs. what do you guys think ?

It seems like the handicaps are about right in your area. I'm judging by the winning percentages being near 50%.

The hardest opponent for a 7 is a good 4 (eight ball). If its a TRUE 7 or 8 in 9 ball he wont let you get to 20, but thats whats wrong with APA. In one town you might be a 6 compared to the other players in that league. Yet another you might be a 3 compared to the competition.

i am glad you said that. i know i dont have much experience with leagues compared to a lot of people on here but i dont think theres much sandbagging going on around here. 2 sessions ago our lo raised a player up 2 levels because he thought he was sandbagging. you are always going to have one bad apple out of the bunch.

i just hear so many of you complain on here about sandbagging i want to share with you what happened on my money league team monday night. i am the captain on this team and i matched a 3 against their 5. i want you to know that i, my 3, and their 5 have known each other for the past 3 years and play against each other in our favorite bar 2 or 3 times a month. the 5 used 2 play on my team 2 years ago so i knew who to match up against him they had never faced each other in a handicap match before.

well my 3 beat him 2-1. he started yelling my player was not a 3.he slammed his cues in his case and continued yelling while heading out the door acussing my 3 of sandbagging.this 5 was undefeated so far this session at 6-0. guess he couldnt handle being defeated and started the sandbagging rant. i never hear that kind of stuff in my apa league.

like i said i have very limited experience playing in leagues and dont know how i would fare in other areas except to say i did go to the regionals this year . imo the matches i played in and the matches i watched, the rest of the states s/l is on par with my area.

fwiw i just joined our master league last week. after the matches were over the opposing captain and i played a few games. he asked what my s/l was and i told him. he stated he would hate to play me in a handicapped match because i was a damn good 5. i think he was trying to build my confidence back up since this was my 1st night and his player kicked my ass 7-0 lol.
