After you win a game a pool...

Let’s make a real spectacle about it. After you win a major tournament whip out a pocket knife and cut the cloth off the table and then run around the arena with it draped over your shoulders like a f’n cape.

Exactly. I think it's getting so cheesy to watch a pro player jump on a table like he's about to lead an army into battle. And I assume there is no way anyone is playing another match on that table without the cloth being replaced. Might as well take a chunk out of the cloth and throw it into the crowd. Maybe even pry off a rail or two. Makes me cringe.

My stepdad told, taught and preached to me when I was a smart ass teenager one golden rule in pool.
It had nothing to do with how to play a shot or strategy and it didn’t even involve using a pool cue either.

CONDUCT……BEHAVIOR…….MATURITY……..DECENCY…….he taught me always win with grace and
lose with dignity. Don’t cheapen the other guy’s victory with excuses why you lost and never boast or brag
about your victory. Your behavior is a measure of you both as a competitor but more importantly, as a man.

Edwin Santucci….”Tooch”…….thank you for being in my life, your patience, love and support…..Missya
and the only reason I ever got to beat him in pool was when I had a partner…..Father Time…..or I’d never
have won. Back in the 30’s, he hustled for money playing pool in NYC’s Bowery District and fared pretty well.

If you’re part of a WNT production, yes. WNT already knows they can’t fund a pro pool series with just us die hards. Most of us die hards still think a $5 tip will keep the wheels greased. It won’t. They must expand their audience.

If you’re part of a Thursday night BCA league, probably not. However, who am I to judge. Live your best life.

win with grace and
lose with dignity.
That's worth putting on a note and attach to the cue case so it's seen each time the cue is removed.
This topic reminds me of a loss to a weaker player. I offered my dignified handshake while stiffling my disappointment. The young player was So Happy that he stepped inside the extended hand and Hugged Me!!! Eek and yikes, it did make me smile when I was leaning towards cry. 😉

Do you really need to jump on top of the pool table?
I grew up working in a pool hall and have played for decades.

I have never ONCE publically "celebrated" winning in an outlandish manner, even having won uncountable money matches, tournaments, etc.

I have never ONCE slammed my cue, or anything else, when things weren't going my way or when I lost.

Childish displays of emotion over games and sports show immaturity, IMHO.

I had a old T- Shirt made that said that on the front.
On the back of the shirt it said “ But Grace is a lot more
enjoyable than Dignity.”

Barry Sanders, hall of fame NFL running backs - 109 touchdowns, never spiked the ball even once, never one end-zone dance. He treated the end zone like he’d been there before and like he knew he’d be back… Nothing but a thing. That’s how I see winners. Same with pool - a player who expects to win doesn’t need to make a scene. He just gets there, handles business, and moves on to the next match or tournament.

I never mind the woofing before a match but at the end win with class and loose with class.
