Can anyone name or recommend an after market shaft for an older Josswest cue (side ways "W")? Looking for one with a solid black ring and 5 X 16/18 thread.
There are lots of shaft options. You might be able to ship your butt end to one of the makers, and get it fitted for the their shaft. I use an OB myself, but there are lots of good ones out there.
Yes, I realize there are a lot of shaft options so that's why I'm asking someone that may have already found one for their JW and having to ship my cue off.

Lots of good Cue makers down in Maryland. If your cue rides under your chin, I can see giving up your cue while a shaft is fitted. If it doesn't then after market shafts have made it so exact fit doesn't matter.
5/16 x 18 probably the most common joint on a production cue. Depending on your budget range, you have options ranging from getting a cheap production cue (keep the shaft, throw away the butt), mid-range aftermarket shafts (Predator, OB), or go with a cue maker known for his shaftwood.
