What is so surprising? 1-piece house cues are what most custom cue makers try to mimick in the way of hit. The construction of a joint in a cue is almost always such that it makes the cue play more and more like a 1-piece. 2 piece cues are used because of their ease to move about with, from a pure hit standpoint you are not going to beat a good one piece house cue, it does not matter who builds it.
