All the pros at the event that didn't play

Can someone fill me in on why there are so many pros at the event that did not play? Are they required to attend if they want to be on the tour?

I think the basic understanding is that those who aren't on the tour yet, but wish to be, would do well to show up and make an appearance. I think it shows an interest an support for the tour. I think Kid D is there, but not playing, for example. Expenses with no reward this week but a good investment for the future if everything works out.

6 grand for losing all your matches and getting last place? I'd wear a pink tux if i had too. Those who didn't get picked (and therefore seeded ahead of others) for the HOF like Earl might wish they'd been recognized by now but looks like there might be enough for everyone... or the top players at the very least.

If the money is really there, I think this thing is gonna work.

For henho and Bud

I hate to be the one to break it to you guys but someone has to do it. Have you guys been asleep or on vacation. All those "pro's", including Kid D were required to be there as part of the initial introduction of the ipt tour. The people playing were by invitation to play in the innauguarl event. The other 103 of the 150 chosen had to be there or they would be replaced in the upcoming events, which is by the way going to happen with several openings for no shows.

I believe they were required to attend for the players meetings, publicity photo's, autograph booth duty, and to make sure everyone had all the information needed for participation on the tour.
Gee, they make you attend and watch an event like this....I don't think I would be too upset. I wish my boss had told me I had to go to it!

Were the players who did not play required to stay throughout the entire event, or just the player's meeting? Seems a bit unfair to make them all stay 4 days in Orlando.

Yes, but for most of these players, this is going to be their career. We are all guaranteed at least $7000 for next year without even winning one match, so I think it is the least you can do to show support for the tour. I heard Earl flew out after he lost and had to come back. :p We are all supposed to be at the autograph table at a set schedule every day, although very few are really doing it. And we were not supposed to leave until after Finals on Sunday.

Did you get this in writing?

Tommy Kennedy has a SE Open tour stop in Miami this weekend. I wonder how that is going to play out. I like the idea of an autograph session. I know if I was there I would be getting some sigs for some pool memorabilia I have.

Yes, last place in the $2M tourney is $2K, last place in the $5M is $5K. Read my account of the player's meeting. For Mike and myself, that means $14k, but I expect/hope Mike to do well and bring more than that home. There will be 50 extra entrants in those 2 tournaments, that have won qualifiers. This $7K will at least cover expenses, so no one will be out any $, except maybe someone that it is costing them $2,000/trip in expenses. Hmmm, that doesn't sound grammatical, but I am in a hurry to get to the tourney. lol.
