Allen Hopkins Pool cue

Hello to all,
I was wondering if anyone could help me. Back in the mid 80's I bought my first pool cue.
I bought it Loree Jon's in Greenbrook NJ. If I remember I paid around $150 for it. What I'm trying to find out is who manufactured this cue. The only marking on the cue is Allen Hopkins' signature on the shaft but other than that there are no other identifying marks. I read somewhere it may be a Palmer but I would think there would be some way to identify the cue. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for responding. I'm just curious of the manufacturer because although I'm a total amateur this cue just has a great feel to it. A friend asked what the brand was and I really didn't know what to say other than "Allen Hopkins" model.

The ring work does look like some of Palmers 1980's work. So I can see why someone thought that. You might want to email Allen Hopkins at Super Billiards Expo site email and ask him. Hopefully it is an old custom cue he had built and you found a gem. But if not maybe he will know what it is.

Does your cue have a flat faced joint?
Or does it have a brass pilot sticking out of the end of the shaft?

Allen Hopkins Cue

I received an email from Allen Hopkins and he thought it might be an Adams cue.

Cueman:
There is a brass pilot on the shaft of the cue.

SWillie:
That absolutely looks like my cue! The only difference that
I can see is that there is no emblem on the butt of my cue, but
it definitely looks exactly like mine.

I don't know much about pool cues. I've tried a friends Meucci and
thought it had a great feel, but I've had this one for years and still
enjoy it's feel as well! The difference is now I know the brand!

Thank you to all have answered this thread!

Adam cues are very under rated production cues.At least the ones that were made in Japan.I have no idea how good they are now that production has shifted to China.
Being made in China is not necessarily a bad thing.

Measureman,
Like I say I don't know much about pool cue's but
this does have a nice feel. I've been looking at McDermott's
and Viking cue's lately because I've been getting the itch to
start up again. Thought, why not pick up something new but
I'll use my old one for a bit before upgrading. It's been a few
years and definitely need some work. Thanks for the input.
