Allison #1 again

If I am looking at the right numbers it looks like Allison will end the WPBA season in the top spot again. Even if she loses to Jeannie Seaver - which I do not see happening.

Not sure if I care for this bracket format.

Ga Young sure didn't have any luck. Normally she would have had to play Karen. Where she is 1-1 in past matches. And very easily could have been 2-0. The new format saved her from playing Karen but then she drew Allison in the final 16.

You are right, Jake, although it sounds like you've forgotten that Ga young beat Karen twice at the US Open this year. As far as the rankings, when AZB "Ask the Pros" columnist Jennifer Barretta beat Karen Corr, she knocked her out of the number one ranking. Surely, Allison owes Jennifer a drink!

Know what you're saying about Ga Young getting a tough draw, but the ones that got the worst of it in this event were those on the winner's side were those finishing ninth while losing just once (Thornfeldt, Ellerby, Neslon, Chen). They are the real victims of this format.

I don't like the format either, Jake, but the truth is that it makes the top players more, not less, vulnerable to unexpectedy early elimination. Having said that, though.he real motive of the WPBA in the use of this format was to get some new faces on TV, and they have succeeded on that. We'll see Herndon, Barretta, and Seaver on ESPN. It's tough not to approve of the WPBA's motive here, but the result is a format that's not quite fair.

I'll bet Jeannie is tickled pink to be on TV.

The WPBA brackets state that the final 16 was a blind draw and I have no reason to believe it wasn't and that was just the way it turned out. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.

But at least we have to give credit to ESPN in that they are televising the final 8 instead of just the final 4. People will be able to see some new faces. Maybe it will attract some more viewers. Of course ESPN never advertises so how will people know?

But it sure does give the women of the WPBA something to shoot for now.

I think the format was required for this specific tournament having more TV hours from ESPN but I wouldn't want to see it used in the future or god forbid permanently. It will be refreshing to see some new faces on TV.

Don't know how long Allison and Karen will stay at the top but the other players are closing the gap quickly....

I like the new format...the money distribution has changed and more players will get a decent payout...

I agree that the WPBA needs some changes...but what??
Nobody is making any suggestions....I agree about the scores not been posted quickly there really isn't any excuse...

Steve Tipton wants to retire...(the man has done a great job --- he deserves to go in peace)
