Almost Ran Out!

Hey guys, I know this isn't too special but I had to share it anyway. Today we were playing our dollar points game at my local room(Wallys), and I decided to bust the balls wide open, and I made a ball. I then proceeded to run the whole rack, and missed the damn 7 at the end. Granted we only play with ten reds, but I was still close to perfection! I was very happy about it and had to share!

..........if you didn't do it on a 12 footer with real baize, correct number of reds, correct rails and pockets.....I am not impressed. I don't see any self respecting snooker player either breaking the balls wide open also.....

plus you also referred to the black as a "7"

Cool points lost.....

No disrespect sir, but...
I don't think this response was called for.
I have played on many tables, some with the baize, others with simones.
I have played on a couple 5x10 tables that played lots harder than any 6x12 ever could.
I would have to say that was some fine shooting. running that many balls on any snooker table gets my respect.

Hi Jeremy,

I have a similar story that happened Monday night...
I play snooker once a week to keep my stroke straight and have been doing fine, breaking a century just about once or twice a week. This past week, I get a shot off my opponents initial break and proceed to run a perfect game....(15 reds) ..down to the last pink.

I fricken miss the last pink on a reasonable easy shot. I get a 134.... sad.

Now I have to try harder... still want to get that 147 under my belt.

sure you have.... .....and what is your high break?

"Simones".........

American Snooker ≠ British Snooker.........so don't even try comparing the difficulty.

When you use 2 1/4 balls and call that snooker, you are insulting the game ...

Where is the love boys?? American Snooker is different from English snooker YES! But a century break is a century break.

I play on a 6 x 12 with West of England cloth. It is a different game than a 5 x 10 with Simonis. Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuutttt, a 134 or 100 on a 5 x 10 is still good. 30+ balls on a tight pocket table, getting postion on black after the red.........................still tough 10 times in a row or more.

I know jam-up pool players that won't even look at a 6 x 12 or 5 x 10.

So, a century break in snooker 6 x 12 / snooker 5 x 10 / line-up on either / or 100+ in straight pool on a 4.5 x 9...............is worth being honored!!!!

I have to agree. It may not be 'snooker' but it still warrants respect. Well done.

So I can't spell. Or maybe I don't type so good. And I am sure my high [break] is much lower than yours. Not that any of this matters.

The question remains: Why do you have the need to put down someone who maybe just played the best game of their life?
Because it wasn't done Your way?
Because it wasn't done on a proper British Snooker Table?
Maybe you can tell us the diff between American - british snooker. I would like to know.
Do you have anything positive to say?

Lets keep in mind that the op never mentioned the table size or the ball size.

Regardless, good on you for the almost clearance.

First of all I didn't think it was that big of a deal to begin with! I just thought it was cool that I almost ran out! I have had higher runs several times when playing with all the reds, but i guess it just felt good to almost clear the table. I have several runs over a 100, and yes I call them runs because I'm American and not trying to copy anyone! And one of my buddies I play with is from across the pond( I think Lester,England) and he says the pockets on our table are tougher than a proper english table! And I don't want to here shit about the size of the table, cause you only play on half the table anyway! I've watched Ronnie O run century after centruy, and only go down the table to shoot the 2,3,4 at the end of the game!

I really don't care if you don't think it is snooker, but you are more than welcome to come and try some if you are down in FL anytime soon!(I will play!)

Jeremy

With out knowing the table, well done.

There are tables and then there are tables... We had a sweet 10 footer in Tallahassee. To my knowledge it had been run out twice! and we played with only 6 cheeries(typically). Road players came through we use to give them a challenge shot, 3rd diamond up shoot the cue ball into the corner, it was a 50:50 bet for the best. Squeekie tight table.

I think more pride is involved clearing the big tables even if its only 40. I have seen people play snooker on a 9' and it was hard to watch. No bridge being used etc. A century is a century, however, not a snooker century until it is done on a 6x12.

In the space of 2 posts you have turned the sharing of an excellent achievement into a rather petty argument over equipment. Way to go Gordon.
