Alternating Break Question

In an alternating break tourney, what happens when the break order gets mixed up?

Say player1 breaks (when it’s actually player 2’s break) and has a short rack (1-9 combo) to end the game and match. Player 2 realizes the error after they shake hands. If you are the TD what do you do?

???

i would say that it was"player 2's" problem and he should have been paying attention.

the same thing as when the loser breaks in a winner breaks format

..... whatever that is

Player 1 wins. A more curious situation I once ran into was that my opponent didn't make a ball on the break, but continued to shoot anyway.

What are my rights in that situation?

This is what I thought, especially after shaking hands. This happened last week at a local tourney. But player 2 got another chance and won the match, which made for some hard feelings.

I’m wondering what could be said before the tourney to iron out any confusion. Something like, players are responsible for keeping track of the break order. So any questions as to who should break next need to be determined before the break. After an incorrect break order play continues with the new order.

I would think that, since you didn’t catch the error before he shot twice then it’s your tough luck. But if you noticed and said something after the first shot, then you’d get ball in hand.
