They can be gaudy. The first below is described as inlaid marquetry cue, circa 1850s, loaded with cloisenne, comprised of ivory, brass, tortoise, spelter, and enamel, double spliced, ivory buttplate and ferrule. Also shown is a Meucci wannabe Casino

It's a pool cue not military regalia. Of course nothing else showing that it's legit.
