Amazing what a little practice can do...

Ready for Baseball Season
Went to the tables for an hour and a half today to focus soley on breaking and jumping. I miscued 80% of the time on my jumps and rarely made a ball on the break before this session.

With a patient hand and remembing some of the fundamentals Ive obtained by reading through this forum, at the end of my practice today I was making a ball 60-70% of the time on the break and i was jumping a good 1/2 way across the table accurately. I even set up the bridge in front of the side and put a line of balls behind it, jumping each over the bridge and nailing it in the side. My record was 5 in a row and once I sunk 8/9. Thank you to everyone for the help you provide us intermediate players looking to take our game to the next level!

My next quest...perfecting the art of the closed bridge (which helps, but I'm still uncomfortable with...

Way to go AZers! Keep it up!

Sounds like your tip is too round. Flatten the dome on your j/b cue tip. If your are using phenolic or other hard man made material then you'll need to have it put on the lathe to do this. The flatter tip will allow a much larger "sweet spot" and allow more tip surface contact on the cue ball. It will also make it much easier to park the cueball on the snap due to the flat tip won't take english. On my personal j/b, the tip is almost totally flat...just slightly round at the edges.
Try it...you'll like it!;)

Good you are practicing, I really need to shoot with a bridge more. I bet the poolhall loves you.
