American Billiard Club 2014-2015

Well-known member
64 Billiard Clubs with 10 players at each.
64 daily matches across the country Mon-Fri with each having fantasy points.
Fans get to pick the team of players they like each day, each week & each Series.
Players compete to earn their spot at the national championship that is held in conjunction with other major events.
Each player has a personal stat/blog page with Each of their matches streamed.
This allows us to offer 320 live streamed matches weekly.
This allows potential fans a chance to get to know the players.
This allows 640 of America’s best players a chance to compete weekly at little to no expense while living a sensible lifestyle (while founding a real tour for their sport)
This allows us the opportunity to approach corporate sponsors outside the industry because this will create an actual product to offer them.
This allows aspiring players a chance to gain experience while pursuing their passion and goals.
This will help the top 10% of these players get to national events with little to no expense.
This can help form a base for juniors & women to compete nationally also with little to no expense.
We have the opportunity to form something good, we should take it.
It takes 1 pool table and 10 local players.

Very cool, Joe. I can't imagine how much time you've put into making this thing work.
I hope you get all the player and sponsor support you need to keep this going for years to come!

P.S. I'll be all in if you're ever ready to expand overseas! ;)

Thx Vic. It has been quite the journey so far and I've learned a lot along the way.

We ARE ready for you and anyone else overseas so if you have 10 pool buddies that would like to come over to any of our major events consider using this format and it can help whoever wins with the expense. Usually with 10 players paying $20 per match it raises $1800 that gets spread out as follows; $400 goes into the national prize fund, $800 + entry into our nationals for 1st place player, $400 2nd & $100ea for 3rd 4th place players. Overseas obviously has more travel expense so you could go winner take all, play more matches or make it $30 per match which raises $2700? Where there's a will there's a way.

To all the activists out there, please consider organizing 10 local players yourself and bringing this to your local club owners attention. I'll put the schedule up online for all to see, collect payments and make it run a easy as possible for all involved.

We really want a pro tour/qualifying tour for our sport and 10 players at 64 clubs nationally OR worldwide ;) can make it happen.

You have some fantastic ideas here and I like the direction you are trying to go!

I have a few questions:

1.Im assuming with the 10 players that each person plays a grand total of 1 day a week vs another player. Then the following week you play a different player and so forth? Does a given player always play on lets say Tuesday night or do they just work out a night that works best for both parties?
2.Is it handicapped? If so how does this generally work?
3.What are the requirements to be able to play, does one just pay the entry fee every week? Can pro level players down to APA 3's be part of the same 10 people?
4.How many months does this usually last and do you have a rough time frame?
5.How does the streaming work and who sets that up?

It's possible I could get something like this going in Denver. I look forward to hearing more about this endeavor.

1. The schedule would vary on which nights players play. Most clubs have been doing all 5 matches on 1 night and some have been letting players schedule among themselves. We would like to go to Mon-Fri because its just 1 table for about 2hrs for the club and everybody can do that AND because we really want to get into Fantasy Billiards for a number of good reasons.

2. It is not handicapped and we're doing our absolute best keep it a scratch format. There is one club participating that is handicapping it in house and their players understand that if a lower level player wins they can pass the national entry on to any of their 10 players.

3 requirements are the entry fee and respect to other players, all levels welcomed. We ask all players to stay in full contact with other players when it comes to match times. Nothing worse than rushing somewhere only to find out you don't have an opponent. I help any group out by forming facebook groups and private message groups for them so everyone can stay in instant contact with each other. Group text messages also works.

4 Each Series has the 9 weeks of regular play and then 1 week of playoffs between the top 6 players. We try to finish the Series at least 30 days prior to our nationals, more if possible to allow for travel plans. At our nationals we try to have the 2 day event as close to Sat Sun as possible so even the working people can attend simply by taking a long weekend.

5 The streaming is club by club basis. A lot of clubs are installing at least 1 camera on their feature table but it is not a requirement. We haven't found the best system set up
to recommend but will shortly. Usually there's at least one regular customer that can help a club out with this.

Jeremiah Gage has recently moved to Denver and he had run a group out of Albuquerque before. He & Marc Vidal are looking for 10 players in the area to get in on Series 6 that will start in March but we could use 2-4 groups in CO. Plenty of time for you get some players together and perhaps get use to the game. My email is JTtenball@gmail.com and I'll help you any way I can.

I know who Jeremiah is, but I don't think he knows me. I will talk to Marc about it. I also forgot to ask if this is primarily being played on the 9' tables or bar boxes? I'm assuming the big track. To be honest I have a pretty busy schedule and would prefer to join an existing one, but am not opposed to running one at some point in the future. I haven't played the game before, but it looks similar to rotation except you start with bih if memory serves me right?

Thanks for the swift response. I appreciate it and what you are trying to do for the game.

Hello again, Joe --

I have 3 FOR SURE players for one new team in the Fort Worth, TX area with 5 others "on the fence" and not 100% committed. Yet. It should only take another month or so after the holidays to get enough people on board for the next session starting in the spring of 2015.

In the meantime, can you relay any information to all of us here on the forum regarding the one club conducting their own (in house) handicapping system and how they do it so their players are all comfortable competing with the best players? I think having that option would entice most of those 5 "on the fence" guys I mentioned above, and get them to try their first session.

Also, have there been - or are any other clubs doing - a multi-game season where each player can have 2 or more matches with each team member vs just having the one match per player format - for the same $180 total season cost - or $20 per match set if you will?

A few players have asked about small trophies in addition to the cash prizes for the top 4 finishers and I was wondering if any club is doing something like that now. I would like to do something like that for my Team here once we get one organized using my own personal contributions and not take any of any prize money to do it. Perhaps the American Billiard Club ( for American Rotation) could put together or design an "approved" medallion or something similar that any or all clubs could have access to in order to have some sort of presentation to the top finishers of each session by participating clubs.

Thanks for all of your work and dedication on this new game and league format, Joe - I really think it has great potential - and is a great game to play with all of the interested new folks here in FW.

Thx K2. For the in house handicapping I would use a scale of 70-140 with increments of 5 and pass it out to all 10 players and have each player rate all 10 players, you're own handicapping committee if you will and use those averages to begin with.
Trophies, you're right and its just one of those things I had to move to the back burner and should get on asap (Been meaning to have Banners made for our National Champions to hang at their rooms and still haven't got that done :( my bad)
Gotta run but just wanted to touch base, thx again.
