i have a chance to pick up a 9ft amf playmaster table for 500 bucks. i wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts or opinions on these tables. it is a slate table. i am not looking for a diamond or gold crown quality. the table is going to be kept in a detached garage with no way to stabilize the temperature so i am looking simply for a practice table. the price sounds good, the pics look great - it's owned by an older couple who are selling thier house. i am going to look at it tomorrow but just wanted to know if they are so hideous that i should avoid it like the plague.

haha, I just located it on CL as you put these pics up.

Assuming the slate is in good shape it looks like a great deal. IIRC those are very decent tables and it sounds perfect for your situation.

thanks. now i just need to see what mark gregory will charge to move it:eek:

I did my diamond pro with

Socket set with extensions
Wrench set
Screwdrivers
Razor knife to seperate slates

Power drill would help with speed but not totally needed.

Don't forget a staple puller! lol I know that job all to well.

In the 8' Playmasters there are screws and bolts to pull out from the underside.

Do yourself a favor and either get some knee pads or one of those rolling things mechanics use to lay down on. Trust me when i tell you that crawling around the table on your back with each bit needed is painful.

take the slate apart, lay it in your truck bed wood down, and put blankets or old cloth between each piece so it doesnt break and drive slow.
