Amsterdamn Billiards/ Manhattan this weekend

BARB?

Sweetheart,

First of all, my name is Barbara. I am not a short, sharp piece of wire that you can cut yourself on, or a stinging remark.

I only asked because I long to see sjm playing pool, and maybe in the company of JB.

Voodoo are you here? RJ, you've been though this before. Just step away from the screen and hope...

Barbara

That is a very generous offer from SJM (hi Stu!) a great player, with tons of knowledge and great stories. Just ask some of his other playing partners like Jeanette Lee, Jennifer Barretta and many other top players...I hope you take him up on it!

Right about that

And it is not the first time he has done that, I can attest to that.

Dave, don't go to Amsterdam. The east side one that you were at doesn't exist anymore, only the west side one. There are no real tight tables there, and no one to play one pocket with. I don't live in NYC anymore, otherwise I wouldn't mind playing again, but I definitely think that you should go to Master Billiards on Queens Blvd and 39th Street (one block from a stop on the 7 line). Tight tables and lots of one pocket players. Much more up your alley. Have fun.

If that's your thing, Dave, you might also try B'way Billiards on 21st between 5th and Broadway. They've got 3 tables that are maybe 3.5'' and some decent one-pocket action. 9 ball too, of course. Also have just reclothed some of the other tables and time is cheap $4 to $5 an hour ...

But don't pass on SJM's offer! Hell, I've been practicing a year and a half for my "rematch."

The last time I played at Broadway, the woman at the table next to me chose to play the entire Wayne Newton collection in the juke box. God it was awful. She was also walking around the table barefoot, with an ice cream cone in one hand and a bottle of bud lite in the other. Unsurprisingly, later in the evening she was on all fours vomitting near the top of the stairwell. She didn't quite make it all the way up to the street.

It's been a little while since I've played there, but I don't remember the clothes being terribly good. Actually, I remember some of them being terrible. It is a good deal though, but if money's no object (which if he takes stu's offer, it is not) - ABC has a better environment.

And no, Travis- I'm not looking at you.

But you are talkin', pal! I'm trying to picture that one, lol. I've also missed meeting up with the aging stripper who likes to play $200 sets and whose cup size is about the same as her skill level.

But agreed, ABC is more PLEASANT, if you like that sort of thing. KD should of course go to both, and throw in Master's and Corner as well, assuming he's got all weekend.

Look at you guys planning my weekend!:) Anyway, I am going to ABC, but I will keep the other places in mind for another trip to NYC. This weekend, I am only able to get out and play for one session. Thankx for all the help.

Backpocket, I hope philly is treating you well.

Amsterdam has 2 tight tables (Tables 4 and 8). Secondly, if someone is looking for 1-hole action, I'm certain we can find some for him.

There's no such thing as 3.5" pockets. That's a 3-cushion table. B'way Billiards often smells of something rancid and the "action" you find down there is comparable to a bathroom mugging. Some of the players there are very good but rarely is there a fair game to be found. If the guy is in town for the day, I wouldn't bother with this place unless he was a pro on the DL and even then, he likely won't make much.
