...And People Complain about $20 Chalk...

I recently bought a new ball set and noticed a few scuffs on the CB that would not buff out.
I didn't know if it was the balls, the new table, or something in my chalk or tip, causing the damage.
While I was eliminating variables, I swapped out a few different brands of chalk.
I have used Tiger, Magic, Predator, Blue Diamond, Masters, and Triangle.
I noticed no difference in spin or miscues between the lot. I don't think I miscued even once.

The only real finding I made was that Blue Diamond and Predator leave more blue marks on the cue ball than Masters and Triangle.

Agree about Predator. I tried it on a whim and am somewhat disappointed by the mess I was trying to avoid. I guess the good news is that there is no doubt about where I impact the cue ball. And I had a beautiful blue streak on the cloth after doing one of Dr Dave‘s VEPP exercises for an hour.

I agree. I was skeptical about paying $20 for a piece of chalk, but this chalk (Taom Pyro) is so clean it's worth every penny. I just had my table recovered, and the way I view it is that this chalk will help prolong the life of the cloth. An added bonus is fewer skids. I can practice for 2 hours and there will not be a single chalk mark on the cue ball. I also think the cube will last longer than other chalk because I don't have to chalk as often. I still check before every shot but the tip needs only a slight touch-up if it needs anything.
And I have to vacuum the table about once a month instead of once or more a week. That saves me several hours per year, plus wear on the cloth. That is worth way more to me than the $18 for the chalk that looks like it will last until mid 2024.

Is it that much of an improvement over Master? I'll probably never find out and certainly won't lose any sleep over it.

I figure it is probably number 43 on the list of things I need to be a better player, so will be able to concentrate on the other 42. I was simply looking at a simple cost benefit analysis that would make it a better choice for me even if Master was free.
