I finally took a picture of my Andy Gilbert J/B.

I had a piece of purple heart underneath my desk for about 3 years. I let Andy do whatever he wanted with it, and make it a sort of sibling cue to my shooting cue (check Signature)

Fred, that's a nice set. I love purpleheart....but prolly not as much as your buddy Jimbo. :)

Fred nice cue

I lived in Springfield, MO for several years and know Andy well. He played pretty strong, but his cuemaking took away from his game some.

Dollar for dollar, Gilberts are the best deal out there.

I have had several and will always have the custom he build for me. I think it is the best I have EVER seen.

I also use one of his standard jump breaks. It functions perfectly and even would make a great playing cue as well.

Very nice Fred..

Very sweet Fred!!!!!

Does it play as well as one of his regular cues?

Yea I'm a purpleheart fan.... Check the sig

Nice cue. Im not a big fan of purpleheart but for such a nice cue Ill have to make an exception. I really like Andy's cues. Im thinking about contacting him about making me one.

Yeah. In fact, since the shafts almost match (the rings are slightly different thickness), I can just as easily put on my playing shaft on this breaking cue. I have a breaking shaft with a hard hard hard leather tip (standard for Gilbert J/B), and I also have a shaft with a phenolic tip.

The normal breaking shaft's hard leather tip makes that hard tip sound, but it performs just as well. No problem whatsoever getting spin. In fact, I shot the last several rounds of a recent tournament using the break shaft inadvertantly. The action was the same. I accidentally screwed it on my shooting stick and didnt' make the connection that the sharper noise was due to the harder breaking tip. Stoopid me.

Very nice Fred! My Gilbert J/B has two shafts as well and I can get quite a bit of spin with the phenolic tip! I've actually run a few racks with it and made some table length draw shots.
