Andy Toth?

Hi, I heard Andy Toth was going to play in some 14.1 tournaments a couple of months ago - does anyone know if he made it? Is he still that good?
I had some great times playing with Andy back in the day - anybody got some good stories to share about him?

I see him all the time, He's playing in Downingtown about ten minutes from my house, running hundreds every week, 70's/80's/90's daily. Recently ran 149/out on someone here, we played last week, he got to 150 in 3 innings on me, ended 88/out. I'd say he's playing as good as ever but I don't know that he will be in any tournaments. He's a straight up 14.1 master, really amazing concentration, patterns and execution. I get 100 going to 150, sometimes I win, if I get to 50 in two or three innings! If you can come and watch or play him, it's a true opportunity to play one of the best 14.1 players ever...are you local?

Glad to hear Andy is doing well, I know he used to have some knee trouble. Remarkable that he can still shoot as well as he did back in his younger days. Sounds like you are a force to be reckoned with yourself if you can sometimes beat him. I used to be local but am living on the far side of Philadelphia now. I'll have to drive over to Downingtown one of these days.

He's there most days, except Saturday, normally from noon to 3/4pm. He does mention his knee somedays but watching him run balls you'd never guess it. And yes it is remarkable, I'd wager he's the strongest player nationwide at his age. As far as me being a 'force', I can play some, sometimes...however, you may need to re-read my post, I get 100pt spot in our games! Only once in the last couple years that I've been playing have I got to 50 first. Really, with a player who can run 'the spot #' so regularly the weight is almost insignificant in this game, unless you can play it right and NEVER leave an opening. Hope to see you in Downingtown sometime, actually the room is officially in Thorndale. 610-384-0700

Brings back memories of Pete Sinklers Junior tournaments. I remember Andy Toth from the 80's/90's he was an Ex- pro basketball player if my memory is correct. Hope Pete and little pete are OK? Last I had heard he was a cop in town. Little pete had really bad asthma or something medical. Big pete had the leg injury from a car accident. Really great people in Downingtown. Pete's cue collection was unprecedented and will never be matched in my opinion. He sold alot of it off. If you were cool with him he would show off his cue museum and boy what a treat it was. that and the supped up Mustangs he cherished.

It's just like Jason said. He is an amazing player. Concentration like I have never seen !
This man is still a champion. although, he will always play it down. A really down to earth champion. a really good guy. An honor to play a game with.

I know that Andy remains a record holder for a 256-ball run in 14.1. I also heard he owned a couple of pool halls at one time? Did Andy win some major tournaments back when he was at his peak?

I never asked him his age exactly but I believe he is 66/67. I don't think he has tournament aspirations nowadays...but he sure can play.
