angel wing pain

Do any of you instructors have any idea what might be causing pain in the 'angle wing' area, the teres minor & teres major area of the back on the stroking arm side?

I'm in my 60s & have been playing more often like I use to when I was younger & am having some pain in that area after a session.

I guess what I'm asking is, am I doing something wrong.

I've noticed that the Diamond tables that I am now playing on are about an inch & 1/2 higher than the Brunswick tables.

I'm, guessing that could be it, but was wondering if any of you have had any experience with this caused by some kind of "fault".

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

You may be putting too much pressure on your bridge hand. That will certainly cause at least a sore shoulder and some neck pain, when playing that way for a few hours or more. You want some pressure on your bridge hand, as it is your foundation for a good stroke, but too much can cause pain.

I'm wondering if you had a previous injury that is acting up due to the increased amount of pool you're playing. You're indicating that it's your rotator cuff area. The higher table height shouldn't be a problem.

Pool shouldn't be the cause, but the repetitive motion can aggravate a problem or an area that's weak for some reason. You should have it checked out before you continue to shoot pool. You don't want to make it worse, especially rotator cuff issues.
