Announcing and Brackets

Had two questions, one about the WPBA Nationals brackets, and one about announcing pool.

1) Isnt it unfair that if you go undefeated and get into the top 8 then be one loss away from elimination? I meen its not like Allison is gonna lose :p but still....

2) When you watch pool on TV and you hear the announcing, do they announce it as its happening? I always thought so but then I thought about the fact that they say "we're going to skip ahead to..." They cant possibly know what racks they are going to skip or if the match will exceed 1 hour (incuding commercials) so which is it?

No, it's not unfair. I have talked with several of the players, and they all agree that when you know the format up front, that's the way it goes. Everyone still has the same opportunities. Generally speaking, the stronger players will be in the top 8 on the zero loss side, and the ones who did lose a match will come back and be matched up with those players. Think of it as two tournaments...the first is double elimination for 64 players, the second is single elimination for the 16 that make it through the first half.

They record tv tournaments live, and then edit them to fit the tv time. It's a simple process to edit in a voice-over that says we are skipping ahead.
