Practicing line-up I hit 99 AGAIN! I had one red to go, potted the blue prior and took the position for granted. HA! I ended up with a terrible cut in the side and choked on it. I just stared at the table for what seemed to be an hour wondering why I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooo dumb.

I have cracked the century mark twice before in line-up.......................but man is it difficult. As soon as you get complacent, thats it your break ends.

I hate pool and I hate snooker....................until I get home and can practice some more!!

It's all in the mind Mike. If you can score 99, then there is no reason you can't score one. But no matter how many times you tell yourself that, treating it as just another ball is easier said than done. It has been the bane of my life.

I once found myself needing only a simple blue to beat World Amateur Champion Neil Moseley 3-0 (barring snookers) in an intercounty competition. Try as I might I couldn't stop myself saying "Only this one, only this one" and setting myself up to fail, which I did. He won the frame on a respotted black and I hardly got another shot as he turned it on to win the match. It is not helpful telling yourself to concentrate. In fact it is a completely negative thought. The trick is to have none. Fly the magic carpet of empty minded self belief that got you to 99 in the first place and it will surely take you beyond.

Last week's episode of "Derren Brown - Trick Of The Mind" had a tightrope walker who claimed he had NEVER fallen once in his whole ife whether in practice or othewise since he started as a small child, and was completely dismissive of the posibility. Derren simply installed a massive bright yellow air bag under the wire and sent him up with the words "Whatever you do, don't fall" while giving subtle physical distractions like touching his shoulder or wrist. You can imagine what effect the visual prompts and the subtley implanted negative thought had.

Agreed Boro Nut! This is the difference between all of us "also rans" and champions. Turning ours brains off is the hardest part. The higher numbers are coming a little easier...................the mind starts talking after I reach the 50 mark.

I will just keeping practicing, until it all becomes common place.
