Another Finished

Just finished this one and played with it tonight. First cue I've put a wrap on. Leather Wrap isn't perfect, but I don't think it's too bad for the first one. I can see the seam a little bit. The only part of this cue I'm not happy with is the cocobolo dust in the buttcap. I thought I had gotten it all out, but the finish certainly brought out what I didn't get.

WoW,
From what my old eyes can tell, you do some nice point work. Very impressive.
As far as the butt-cap, sand it out & reshoot it. No biggie.

Real punchy looking veneers there!

Thanks for the comments. I got a ton of help from a couple people here on the glue up of my veneers. If it wasn't for them, they would probably still be looking as bad as a few of the other cues I posted.

As for when I'll have any cues for sale, I have no idea. I don't have any that are perfect yet so it could be quite a while. I don't think I could finish more than 2-3 per month and that is pushing it. I am working on one for a poster here that is looking pretty good, but that's about it at the moment.

Thanks for the compliment on the point work KJ Cues. The technique for the miters I came up with after going through about every machine I own until finding a solution that works for me. As far as the glue up goes, I would still be struggling if it wasn't for this forum. I received some valuable information from a couple of members here.

I'm pretty happy with these points, but am a little disappointed with the glue line between the two blue veneers. I have another similar cue in the works with double oranges and it is virtually seamless.

Here is a close up of the points and miters.

Another finished cue

Really nice veneer work, especially this early in your efforts. I've always liked blue with rosewood. Keep banging at it, and before you know it the leather will flow on and the finish will glow. Nice to see new guys doing the hard stuff first.
