This flat-out SUCKS! I've been going there as long as I've been playing pool,at least when I'm in town,and the room just oozed action. This was the home of the Akron Open,Ohio State Open,and several other large tournaments,as well as one of the toughest daily lineups in America,at least at one time. Tommy D.
 
the room will be open soon. A guy that use to work there back in the early 90's is trying to buy it and open it back up.I will keep you all informed as that is where I gerw up playing and owe my pool additiont to the great players that have played there.I aslo worked there on and off for like 7 years a great place.
 
Last time I was there it was pretty beat up on the outside. Is the guy trying to buy it Larry M.? I played there for several years before Diamonds opened up on Manchester... That was a nice room..went AWOL for a couple of years and that place closed when I came back.

Starchers definately had a tough line up at one time. Cheap or spendy all the action was tough.

Yes there was always tough players,you could find cheap action or play for alot if thats what you wanted.The guy that is trying to buy it is Brian Brag. He worked the front counter in the day time for like ten years.I see you missed it when it was Action Billiards they made alot of changes to the place some good some bad.I was talking to Jim Starcher and he was the one that told me Brain was trying to buy the place.I worked the front counter at night for a long time, and I do miss the place so many really good players.Just to let you know there is a place in Canton called Fiddel Stix and that is a great place to play and only 10 minuts from my house. The guy that owns it is Chirs Suzter (not sure if that is how you spell it) if you are looking for some one to play for practice or maybe money send me a message I am game (well as soon as I get better from back surgery that is) well hope to see you out some time.

This was the place where I realized that my dad was NOT the best player in the world,the first place I ever ran a rack on a 9-footer,talked to a pro player,and saw good looking women (several over the years,but Megan,the former owner's daughter,is the nuts) in a poolroom. The last time I was there was kind of unpleasant,it was dead in the middle of the summer and the air was out,felt like playing here in Tennessee at the old farts room,but won the Tuesday and Thursday night tournaments in the same week. I prefer to remember it as it USED to be,filled with strong players,perfect conditions,good looking women and the best buffalo wings in the Northern Hemisphere. I guess I'll have to make a trip to Canton,as well as the new room out on Manchester Road,right up the street from Hamburger Station. When I was up there last year,my cousin said Diamonds,which looked like a nice place,turned into a gay bar. Tommy D.
 
Diamonds is a bar but not a gay bar another new owner.The new pool hall on Manchester road is run buy one of the guys that ran or hung out at Diamonds Chic T. It seams to be an ok place,small and upscale,not much action the way I hear it. Some of the guys from Starcher's go there but not all the time.I have only benn there a few times and it seams that the place is very slow that was last winter just after they opened up I think.Well when you come to town let me know I am always looking for some people to play and maybe lean some new things. p.m me if you want to talk some time and talk about old Stachers or what not.
