Another positive story for pool!

This relates to English 8-Ball....but it is a massive story (in pool terms)!

As you probably know the BBC is the state broadcaster here in the UK, so it means pool (in some form) will be shown live to every household in the UK for free...and also presumably to plenty of other places that also get BBC channels.

Also, it seems there is a new betting partner, so every match will have live odds too (I think, although that may be restricted to the UK)!

Pretty neat. I wonder how similar news would affect USA if it happened. Most people I know have cut cable and just use internet + some combination of Apple TV, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Netflix, Roku, etc. Do most UK residents watch broadcast TV?

This is great news. Good to see that all the hard work the IPA has done to bring a professional tour for that game is really paying off.

Hmm, good question! Standard tv reception (not via Cable or satellite) is awful in many parts of the country, so I suspect most people have moved to online channels here too, most people I know have!

The IPA tour is also live streamed and will be on the BBC website too I think!

Indeed.

Anyway to say the BBC broadcast is free isn't really true. You folks have to pay for a TV licence.

True...but you have to pay it to watch TV, so it’s free in the same way going to the doctors is :-)
