Another Rookie Question

Hi everyone
i have seen some shafts that have finish ( clear ,epox or something else) all the way down. some of my older cues have finish only to the big part of the taper ( is it just worn off ?).
how are you supposed to do it ? or it is a personal preference ?
i like the bare wood feel with slight wax.

Hi Carl; A clear finish on the shaft, will USUALLY become sticky in time. The lower end cues or those shipped a long way, usually have a pretty thick finish on the whole shaft. I Spray my clear, 4" onto the shaft from the joint down. The rest of the shaft has a SEALER on it, that will seal the pores & slowly wear off of the rest of the shaft surface...JER
