another thought on the opening break

Maybe it's just me, but I've been pondering this for the longest and was wondering how many of you fellow 14.1 shooters have thought about the dead carom shot, if it's available, and how often it appears after the opening break in a match. If the breaker edges off the corner ball (either left or right corner ball) and brings the cue ball down table, assuming the corner ball does not come back into the rack how often do we have a dead carom into the corner pocket? How often does it come up and do a lot of you look for that shot right away after the opening break among other dead balls in the rack?

I've been playing Straight Pool since about 1973 and don't ever remember seeing this looking good enough to play. Not even for good players.
